About Me

Growing up, I thought I wanted to become a figure skater. I was captivated by Olympic ice dancing and kept a thick folder of printouts about my favorite skaters on my desk. At some point, I realized my fascination didn't translate into practice.

I preferred my folder to the ice itself. Science captivated me in a similar way. I wanted to learn everything I could about every aspect of it and yet in the lab I felt frustrated by the pace of discovery. Writing about science turned out to be the perfect hack. I received my master's in science communication from UC Santa Cruz in 2024 after working in research publishing for several years.

Now I write freelance stories for local outlets and national institutions. And while science remains my brain's favorite fodder,  I prefer writing stories about people. I want to use my platform as a journalist to explain, expose and hopefully, make a difference.
